Plastic Free Byron…the entire Shire by 2020!

Many hands make light work.  After the whirlwind that was the 2016 Plastic Free July campaign in Mullum collaboration was sparked and Mullum Cares joined an alliance of other plastic free cruisaders to keep the pressure up to rid the Shire of single use plastics.  Plastic Free Byron was formed as a project of Mullum SEED Inc.

The team surveyed the entire retail district in Byron to assess the extent of the use of single use plastics and began the engagement campaign to get businesses to switch to reusables or compostables.

The Byron Mermaids held an even at Main Beach highlighting the impact of plastic bags on turtles and the team had a stall at the Byron Surf Festival.
